Go ahead and rate me low if you want, I don't care.
I just want to say this: I've learned well from being on GAOTD for years now, that when a program is offered and there are multiple warnings in the comments section about the program causing ANY sort of problem with say, WINDOWS XP SP3, or WINDOWS 7, VISTA or any other OS or particular program...
STEER AWAY.
Hey, it's free...so no big deal.
I'd rather skip an offer than end up with a problem that either takes me days to figure out how to fix, or permanently alters my system in a bad way.
This has happened to me before.
I was interested in a program that GAOTD was offering and read many, many posts that said it caused severe problems with the same system I'm running...BUT, I also read a few posts that said they were running the same system as me and never had a problem...
Power of the mind...
Six positive comments versus forty-nine negative ones and I STILL decided to stick it out...and ended up regretting it. I had it in my mind I wanted the program, so I ignored the higher number of warnings versus the small amount of people running the same system who didn't have a problem. That decision caused me such problems that my computer never worked correctly afterwards and was in and out of the computer repair shop frequently after that, for a good two years before finally crashing altogether.
Point in fact people, it doesn't matter so much what system you're running...but what kind of computer you have, how old it is, what is installed on it, etc., so better to be safe than sorry.
I'm passing this one up simply because of the number of comments about major negative issues. So should you, in my humble opinion....

I downloaded this and my sound doesn't work anymore, as I suspected it wouldn't.
There's a little warning that windows gives you when you install this, don't ignore it.
Anyhow, at least my computer beeps at me every time it wants to make a noise.
Hurray!
On a serious note: Be careful if you decide to use this. If it happened to one person it can happen to anyone.
@ those who lost their sound. these programs usually work by creating a new device driver which you can set your system to use for recording or playback.
You can just as easily set it back. Depending on your system its something like this
1 click start
2 click control panel
3 click sound and audio devices
4 click the audio tab
5 reset playback and recording to your normal soundcard in the selection boxes
6 click ok and you should be back to square one
Installed on a powerful Vista desktop. Activated. When setting up, two different error messages appeared. "Target device not found" regardless of which device was selected from the list of choices.
Program seemed to record streamed audio regardless, but when the MP3 file was checked it was found to be silent.
Sad, as I could do with a good streaming audio recorder.
To all those saying 'had to uninstall/use system restore' because I lost system sound, just click control panel > sounds and change default speakers back to your normal speakers, rather than 'Apowersoft Audio Device'. Problem solved.
muuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuito bom
