Hi! My Name is PAUL.
I have been following GOTD for the last few years because I cant afford to pay for the stuff offered here, and have noticed that there is a large amount of negativity to what's given away for free, no matter what it is. A little bit of positive feedback would also help the developers. If you read the above sentence ( Please comment only on the software here. If you have technical problems or suggestions on our project, please leave us a note in our forums. )
By commenting on the software and giving feed back to the programmers', this will help them improve their mistakes and problems. If we work together as a team, we will draw developers towards GOTD instead of push them away. If we draw them, then we should see much more sophisticated, expensive, free software in the future.
BTW. I'm a teacher in a primary school.

Sorry, but I'm going to have to pass on this offer. Why?
Because after checking out your website, none of your "awards" are clickable. Not just that, but the only clickable link was for your "www.brothersoft.com download now" link, and when I clicked on it, my Norton 360 blocked the website saying that it was a known malicious site. Why should I trust your firewall, when I can't even trust your own website? Then you claim "...and over 100 5-star awards". Really? Over 100? Please... I'm sorry, but extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Doesn't work for me :)
Immediately after starting it displays a messagebox saying "This application has failed to start because MSVBVM60.DLL was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem."
Yeah, I know what to do - I have to find somewhere this Visual Basic Runtime redistributable DLL and place it in the directory where this software is installed (the DLL isn't there, I checked), that would probably fix it, but I won't do it.
I don't do the work the developers should be doing - i.e. provide an application working out of the box.
And besides, the application utterly fails to stand up to its name - _portable_ firewall, 'cuz I don't expect every machine I run it on having this Visual Basic DLL.

I lied to all you good people here when I said I won't feed Visual Basic Runtime to this application :) I finally did, the temptation to see how this Visual Basic Firewall works was too great.
Well, I'm not impressed.
First of all - it doesn't work under restricted user account, throwing up the incomprehensible error "Run-time error '13'. Type mismatch."
Yeah, I'm aware that such kinds of applications often require administrative privileges, as they need to access some low-level network innards, but at least I expect they'd gracefully refuse to start in the restricted environment or even maybe prompt to elevate privileges and won't just die with "runtime error whatever".
On the product site I didn't find any mention of admin privileges required to run the software, so I must conclude the developers abuse their windows amdin accounts all the time and expect everyone else to do so. Wrong, it's very bad practice from the security standpoint.
And the second one - the moment I started this application with the proper privileges it killed _all_ my existing network connections in the blink of an eye. Guys, I'm really touched by that, but _please_ let _me_ decide which connections I need to terminate.
What's wrong with developers these days? First there's the SecurityKiss client forcefully killing any openvpn process it finds, now this...

@3 Paul
I'm wondering what the 'BTW I'm a primary school teacher' part of your comment has to do with in terms of comments about the developers or software. I also totally disagree with your comments about only posting positive reviews.
Some of the GOTD offers are great and have prompted me to buy the software when I have changed my computer, whereas others are an absolute scam and need to be called out as such.
Comments should be both positive and negative, depending on the view of the commenter surely.
