Vista x86, download & activation gave no problems.

The program does what it says: it helps you put your computer 'to sleep'.

'sleep' is defined as shutdown / log off / hibernate / .. / Execute File / Display Message.

Before you say: "I can do this with Windows Task Manager", the program offers one extra (handy) function: slowly decrease Volume.

The program also offers atomic clock synchronization.

All in all, the program does what it says: put your computer down when you want ;p

I would not pay money for it, but for now: it is a small download and it works as it should so I installed it (and I'll keep it).

Apparently, this is NOT just a Shutdown tool- (Quoted,From Developers Website):-----"Unique functions and usability,

SmartSleep (the shutdown utility) have some really neat functions - you may display black screen during countdown so you can save life of your monitor. Another excellent feature is slow decrease of sound volume, so if you are listening to music before falling asleep, you will absolutely love this! It's very rare and original feature. With SmartSleep you may force all applications to quit during shutdown, even those which aren't responding, so it will turn off your PC always! Unlike in many other applications, you may also set-up date and seconds, so PC is turned off exactly when you want!

SmartSleep also have a clear and easy to use interface that supports minimizing to system tray. It can be launched automatically at system startup and remembers everything you set it too. You may set-up time by absolute time (16:30:26) or by relative time (12 minutes from now).

Shutdown scheduling is powerful, you may add unlimited tasks. Tasks can be performed once, every day, or on specified days (For example, only at: Monday and Thursday, only weekends, all days expect Friday etc). You may easily turn scheduling on/off in options and individual tasks can be turned on/off with checkboxes upon them. Shutdown scheduling is extremly useful. For example, you may set 'lunch reminder' to 12:00 every day expect weekend, start program to clear your system at Sunday 21:00 and turn off your computer at 22:00 every weekend. Automatically! As useful as it can be.

SmartSleep can launch any program before performing shutdown and wait specified amount of time. You can also launch internet links and shell commands. For example, you can launch shell command 'net' with parameters 'send /users ShuttingDown!!!' - this will send message to all users connected to your computer so they can disconnect.
What you can use SmartSleep for? Some examples!

To shutdown your PC when watching movies from bed (SmartSleep can also reduce the volume slowly and stop at selected limit)
To shutdown your PC after some long-standing operation
To fall asleep easily while listening to favourite music
For periodic reboot of server
"Lunch" notice followed by hibernation
To record late night radio
Tool for users who often forget to turn off the PC
To shutdown PC used by more users when it's no longer used
As alarm - launch WinAmp playlist at morning"------ (End Quote)-----------------So, their Statement of Launching Winamp Playlist @ Morning leads me to believe that it can be programmed to Also Automate "Wakeup" procedures,as well ???.......I have not downloaded Program,Yet,but will do so to try and Investigate Features...Sometimes, perhaps, a little deeper digging to ascertain everything a Program Is CAPABLE of being programmed to do...???

While it may seem a little overpriced for what it does, it does do what it says it does. As a give-away I recommend, but I wouldn't buy it personally.

A lot of the freeware alternatives seem to simply shut your computer down after so many hours and minutes, this program will schedule a task at a specific time.

For example, if you set your computer to run an anti-virus scan overnight, or disk defrag. Then it is easy to set any countdown timer to turn the computer off when it should have completed, as you will only do it once.

This program can schedule something at a SPECIFIC time, not after a certain length of time. So for example you do a back-up each evening or week, or use your computer to watch TV, hulu or whatever on as you go to sleep. You do not want to be setting a timer every night, especially if you are trying to go to sleep... So you set this timer to turn your computer off at say 1am every day when you will be alseep.

That is the difference between a countdown timer and an (absolute) timer. This is an absolute timer, which is much more rare. It also works quite well and I do like the slowly decreasing volume for those who use it to turn off after they have gone to sleep as sudden silence can disturb some people if they are not yet in deep sleep.

However, $20? No way... $10 MAXIMUM for such a program is all I would pay for it. I would also suggest a careful re-writing of your advertising to highlight the difference between your absolute timer program and a simple countdown timer which will need to be set to turn off after so many hours and minutes, rather than at a specific time of day.
