I have playcore4 from a previous giveaway and found it really good for recording inputs and outputs at the same time, ie a backing track playing on the pc, a vocal track from the high def mic input and guitar input using a rocksmith usb capture lead.
Only had one significant problem... It did not remain activated and claimed the hardware configuration had changed significantly which it had not... Only the size of the harddrives changed.had changed. It was the same OS, same windows key, same motherboard. It would not reactivate as the GAOTD activation code had long been removed from their licensing server.
I have installed this and note the user interface has changed to a much more compact windows 8.1 multi-coloured tile layout that does not always refresh on its own when you return to it from the individual components windows presenting a grid of red x's that only refresh when i hover over them with the pointer.
I do hope that Playclaw5 retains its activation according to GAOTD terms and condition which Playclaw4 did not.

Yes mike I know, but people should be allowed to upgrade or replace faulty hard drives without losing activation, windows did not require re-activation and that is well known for including hard drives hidden serial number in its activation algorithm. Hard drive serial number change alone should NEVER be enough to invalidate a license activation. Neither should changes that any gamer might make during the life of their gaming machine, i.e. system RAM size change or audio and video hardware change... all the above are likely to be upgraded or replaced due to over use in any hardcore gaming configuration. Since re-instalation is not possible due to GAOTD wrapper their server should retain the GAOTD activation code to allow re-activation where their over zealous hardware change detection algorithm raises a false positive due to minor hardware repair or upgrade IMHO.

TK, I too "suddenly" lost Play Claw 4's usability. I did not change a thing on my PC. When I tried to use it, I got an error saying the program could not be found, or something to that effect. So, I figured they had an expiration on it that I didn't realize. I just got rid of it then. It was a good little program too. Was going to purchase 5, but bought something else instead.

Hard drives have 2 identifying serial numbers -- one you can see [from a command prompt do a dir command] & change [sysinternals volumeid.exe], and one that comes with the drive itself from the factory. One or both are often used by software as a part of the overall device ID for DRM.
The bright spot is that you lost a GOTD & it's back -- imagine if you lost your license to Photoshop [before it was subscription based], which happened to many people -- yeah, you were supposed to deactivate P/Shop before swapping drives, but when/if a drive failed you couldn't.

Confusing UI, closed program thinking I was getting out of options. Most overlays on by default.
Tried it with Cannon Brawl, game freezes, changed settings, game freezes, turn 'Desktop mode' on, computer freezes *so* bad I can't even get to the Task Manager.
Hard reset.
Uninstalled with no problems, thank you Giveawayoftheday.
