Installed fine on XP SP3. Ran a cataloguing scan for the first time on my media folder (on my work PC), and each time it locked the application up.
After investigation I found that it was a folder of .m4a audio files that was causing the issue. It catalogued the remaining folders of .mp3 with no issues.
As I have .m4a format in my some of my main music collection I'm concerned that I'll have the same issues when cataloguing on my main PC later.
The help file indicates that OGG/FLAC/WMA/WAV format is supported as well as MP3 and Audio CD, so it would appear that I'd have to convert the M4A files into one of those formats before being able to use the cataloguer.
As a result it's not quite a thumbs up for the application but it is certainly on its way there.
Vista 32bit. Downloaded, installed, registered flawlessly. In short - WOW!! The first and ONLY music databasing program to handle my > 30G of music files without choking and flipping out! And, did so flawlessly, while finding duplicates, finding albums for songs I didn't know what album they went with, and creating an awesome environment to find and use them. Uses your preferred player (instead of an inferior one of its own), sorts and organizes VERY well, and offers you to have and organize via several collections instead on of one big one. Negs - sometimes lists "albums" when showing lists via "artists", did not alway find cover art when it was right there with the album, and does not auto-save after a scan (which wasn't apparent until I couldn't find during Search the stuff I just added) but is easily solved by remembering to hit the Save button. I have used many of the free and costly DB's for music and find this one to be well worth the cost as advertised. Thanks for the wonderful gift GAOTD and Able Apples!
It looks like a good music collection program. But at $49.95, updates would be very expensive. I think I'll stay with the freeware mp3tag.
I judge a program's usability on whether I can use it without reading the manual.
This program is not intuitive.
When I selected Play (not the Winamp option) nothing happened. I don't have time to work out why, perhaps its a setting in preferences. But if it doesn't work out of the box...
Program reported none of my tracks had Artist covers. So, I selected download for the Chieftains and the program then seemed to want to download every image of the Chieftains it could find. After a minute of this, I terminated the search.
I am a registered user of MediaMonkey and when I reflect on the quirkiness of this program, and the need to read the instructions, that was enough to uninstall this program.
I think the developer needs to user test with people who have never seen the program and get some clues on how to improve it.
Oh, me again. Forgot to mention that it will export your collection lists to Word, Excel, HTML, txt, and other formats for easy transfer, publish, or listing! Makes things such as cataloging Halloween scary tracks into a collection and then printing off data for easy choreographing your fun - or doing the same for DJ's or special dates. Then, can easily create a Playlist that can be exported to different players. Or, you can print from its own handy little Print Wizard. And when you need to get to that mp3 file fast for copy or organizing, it will directly open an Explorer window for you wherever you have it stored. Nice stuff.
Não consegui instalar o software pois o Activation Key não está funcionando, fica tentando validar e não autentica a cópia. Tentarei mais tarde. Obrigada.
