Limited end result - nice set of thumbnail displays, but once an image is selected to view full size, then there is no Next/Previous picture option, have to click the picture to go back to the thumbnail display.
Not as professional as many other products around

Seems simple enough...open program after you install so that you can enter your name and the registration code. Then make sure you go to preferences in the top right drop-down and uncheck "automatically check for updates" and "apply"... or your free program won't be free for long.

mediAvatar Photo To Flash let's you create some nice image galleries in the Flash Shockwave format, but the results I got didn't play everywhere, wouldn't convert to projector files [stand-a-lone apps or executables], & were better suited for smaller image collections. Audio could be a bit problematic, as it wouldn't import a .wav file, but did accept the same audio as ac3, though the result was a very large file -- it didn't OTOH seem to have any problems with generic mp3. Be prepared to explain how to use any galleries or presentations you create, as it's not always clear how their animation can depend on the mouse position in the window, & unless you have better luck & can create projector files, if you give a gallery you created to someone else, you'll probably need to tell them what to do with it, e.g. send someone an html file & swf, & if they open the html in Internet Explorer it will not play it until the user clicks through the warnings.

[That said, the Shockwave (swf) files that mediAvatar Photo To Flash creates are a bit non-std, throwing warnings etc. in previous GOTD apps designed to take swf files apart -- that's my guess why they won't convert to projector files for me. If you export your gallery as xml however you get a nested folder arrangement with photos & music separate from the minimal swf file included -- I could create a projector file using that minimal swf, & *as long as it was located in the same folder (next to the swf file)* the projector worked. Doing it this way you *might* also edit the images &/or thumbnails, adding text to just the images for example, or simplifying thumbnails to make them clearer. OTOH you lose the simplicity & convenience of using just one file. You can download the Adobe projector app here for Windows, Mac, & Linux: http://goo.gl/R1hy ]

Installing mediAvatar Photo To Flash the chief impact I saw was the Microsoft Visual Studio C++ runtime included in Setup.exe, & that was responsible for most of the roughly 450 new registry entries -- the C++ runtime install also added a VC folder to Common Files, an .msi file to Windows\Installer, 33 files under Windows\WinSxS, & modified 2 files under WinSxS. Photo To Flash itself adds the program's folder [653 files, 15 folders, ~75 MB] -- [note that if disk space is tight, at default settings the "PortableApps.com AppCompactor" reduced the overall size to 1/2 that], a folder's added under User Application Data that holds a couple of .js files, & default output folders go under My Documents. Parts of mediAvatar uses the QT programming language for fastest media handling, along with the ffmpeg code libraries, & makes use of the Internet Explorer you've got installed. It includes but for me didn't register Flash10l.ocx [Adobe Flash Player 10.1 r102]. Today's GOTD uses the registry to store the license key, & creates an mediAvatar key [with just a few values] under both User & Local Machine sections of the registry along with an uninstall key -- being a GOTD you might want to run it & add the key under all profiles you've set up in Windows.
