Hi folks,
I'm not here to post a review today but just wanted to point something out.
As far as I know, Kingsoft no longer does lifetime license giveaways; aside from viewing their 1-year license giveaways on other websites, I've been in touch with the people at their comp/any and they unequivocally told me they do not do lifetime license giveaways -- they do 1-year giveaways only now.
It could be possible that the GOTD team somehow talked Kingsoft into doing a lifetime license giveaway, but my guess is this is a one year license as well.
Just thought everyone should know.

Question: What exactly happens to the program after 1 year passes?
Does the program fail to start?
Does it revert to the free version?
Or, does it continue to be fully functional, but with no updates?
I'm hoping someone from Kingsoft can answer this question, so we don't have to wonder.

I'll skip this offer since I have Office....
But for those (like me) who don't like 1 year license or don't know how to grab Office for cheap, there are FREE alternatives out there which work pretty well too.
You can take your pick, dudes....

Installed and registered without problems on a Win 8.1 Pro 64 bit system. The program comes preregistered.
A Chinese company with address and complete company info in Hongkong. That's good.
I use since long OpenOffice on my PC's, since the time, when more and more vulnerabilites were detected in Word. And I use KingSoft since two years on my Android devices.
On my Android, I have no problems with their OfficeSuite, so I expect the same on Win 8.1
Installed a modern UI, KingSoft writer starts - with a version 9.1.0.456. I checked updates, the system says:
The latest version brings more powerful features. Download the new version at...
You are led to the download site, where it is stated :
The latest version: 9.1.0.4560.
This is misleading, the latest version seems to be installed by the software above. I did not find the switch to disable updates.
To "test" the complete package takes weeks... I can only say from my Android experience, this is a good software company.
I'll keep it - but will use my OpenOffice, because of the new learning curve.
If you do not have an OfficeSoftware installed: this is a very good way to start with.
P.S.

Kingsoft is a great replacement for Microsoft Office 2003, which has followed WindowsXP and has had the support stopped from today. I have been using the free version for a little over a week and the features in Writer and Spreadsheet are directly comparable with Word and Excel. I've not used Presentation yet, but based on what I've seen with Writer and Spreadsheet, this should be equally good.
Thanks for the full version.
