Installed and registered on a Win 8.1 64 Bit 16 GB Memory system without problems.

A minimalistic interface appears on the screen. Could not be resized, on the right upper corner you can change the language. From english to english.

The company claims : "No technical or data recovery skills are required to undelete your files."

That sounds good. Is this the reason, why they forgot to give any additional information or even a small help context? Okay, I'm the absolute novice.

"Step 1: Please select the flash drive to recover."

... and then they offer me system c:? As a flush drive? Bad interface!

I selected a 32 Gb FAT32 partition, a USB 2.0 Stick. Let's have a look...

The program works and works. For an unknown reason, it refreshes always their program screen. Should this be the sign "working"?, because the green completion bar does not advance or very, very slow. Must be a programming error.

After 15 minutes we are half done.

Meanwhile I read the information in the program folder :

" INSTALLATION
-----------------------------------------------------------------
1. This software was tested under Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 6,
Windows 2000 Service Pack, Windows XP and Vista operating systems.
Correct operation under Windows NT 4.0 without Service Pack 6 and
Windows 98 is possible but not guaranteed."

Uuuh, this doesn't sound good. Never tested on Win 7 or 8. They try to sell old stuff?

After 25 minutes without a result I would like to stop or pause the scan, but without appropriate keys?

Sorry for the long text, but I have had time enough during the test.

Ooops! After 32 Minutes the program crashes! In the above description : Windows 2000, XP, 2003, Vista, 7 ...

Useless, a shame, uninstalled via reboot. Not worth even to download for free!

@1 the way I read it it is not just for flash drives but for all FAT, FAT332 and NTFS partitions, why else would they start the description the way they do?

nevertheless, also Win 8.1 installed fine. Software didn't recognise my MD flash but did see my usb. Scan was quickly but nothing was found (although the USB stick is used often enough.

Scan of either partition on my master disk resulted in a crash of the program, scan of a partition on my slave went quickly and a bunch of stuff I deleted a few days ao showed up. Recovered it to C:recover and found about 1% was still usable. non of those files where of a filetype that really matters (readme.s bmp's and a few wav files)

uninstalled

A quick test after a simple installation on both a flash drive and the C drive and it failed, absolutely nothing on either, in fact nothing happened except that it went to an empty recovery screen.

@Karl. Thanks for testing the software. I always appreciate the work you do. You have saved me a lot of time when I wonder if the SW is good or not, and don't want to risk the integrity of my system and / or waste my time.

@Irene

Thank you for your nice comment!

No, reboot isn't a utility. I run my system with a virtualisation software. Like ShadowDefender (GOATD June 2013) or Toolwiz Timefreeze (included in Toolwiz Care - recommended!) or DeepFreeze (paid).

Every installation is done under a virtualized system. That means, the installation does never affect the REAL system. To remove all changes, ever made to the system, you simply "reboot" the system.

Therefor I can easily test software, without ever harming my real default installation. Should be used by everybody. HTH.

Greetings Karl
