Cleaning a registry is risky enough. Defragmenting the registry is too dangerous and results in no noticeable performance enhancements. Read this products home page:
http://www.elcor.net/rdefrag.php
and this article:
http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_does_defragging_the_registry_do
If you are daring, be sure to back up your registry and computer. CCleaner does a good job of backing up the registry. It's got a good conservative registry cleaner, one of the only one I would use. I will never defrag a registry. Keep in mind that having a back-up of your registry doesn't do much good if your computer won't boot. I would love to read some opposing opinions but I will be passing on this one. I won't vote thumbs down though since I am not even installing it.
If I did feel a need to defrag my registry, I would use a name I know like this freebie:
Auslogics Registry Defrag

The essential claim about this program is about restoring the linearity of the registry file. This claim makes absolutely no sense to me. I am a computer professional and I don't know what does it mean "linearity" in this context.
Imagine if I sell margarine and I claim it has improved linearity. Will you buy it just because something which does not make sense is supposedly improved ?
I am not going to try this program even if they pay me $11.
Also, I am not going to mention ;-) that according to some extreme opinions ANY program for optimizing the registry is useless. The "linearity" alone is enough to me.
Also they have at least one typo in the home page.

it has reg defragger as well as lot of other tweaking features - can be downloaded from link given below :

Although I downloaded - but just to try - will always prefer freeware which constantly updates.

Installed and registered without problems on Win 7 64-bit.
No 64-bit version, it exists but I get the 32-bit version...
Indeed does remove entries prior to defragging. So it's far more aggressive than it's name implies and no way to disable this behavior. No preview of what this software considers 'unnecessary' and no backup. Now that's a BIG reason to uninstall right away.
I used Sysinternals PageDefrag on XP, reliabe software but results where unnoticable. From 95 to XP the registry already needed less and less monitoring and maintenance.
On win 7 this software has become pretty much obsolete. The OS keeps the registry as contiguous as possible. Linearity has little meaning in this context indeed...
Uninstalled and thumbed down because of the aggressive-silent cleaning part. Give users a choice in this matter!
Thanks anyway GOTD.
