It is a shame they chose to offer their subscription model license and not their personal non-commercial for life with no updates license they do sell rather than 3 years subscription license which is less desirable.
I find myself wondering what is missing in this giveaway as there is an option in the help menu to upgrade to complete edition... according to the GAOTD FAQ we should be getting the complete licensed product as sold .
The giveaway license apears portable with the license operating across mapped network drives. The program only comes as a "portable" style installation installing into a sub folder of the C:\USERS\username\Local\BinaryMark\Portable\ heirachy.
The user settings are NOT portable though being stored in a completly differnt folder regardless of where the "Portable" heirachy is moved to so remains only on the host computer NOT on the portable media.
C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\BinaryMark\BatchFiles_Path_mtgr4n3jzx2qtjnitggigx5qfxyquwhe\5.0.19.503\user.config
On one machine and
C:\Users\WINDOWS\AppData\Local\BinaryMark\BatchFiles_Path_ocuzfgoa4fywt0ruwp25xtrl3x1pwdqx\5.0.19.503\user.config
on the machine running the portable folder over a mapped network drive.
It should store the user.config file in the portable folders heirachy and follow the users seat around from machine to machine rather than forcing the end user to have to reconfigure the program to their personal preferences each time they switch host computers and leave their personalised settings on the host machine which could mess up a different users settings in that same windows user account if they also use the same program version on that machine.

I'm columnist and writer and had never used software so complicated to implement. Simple things like PASTE and INSERT or CUT or COPY are now conditional and you have to know every position of every text and the line numbers or the specific words.
By the time you set all of those processes and branchings and have opened every file that needs modifications, you forget why you are doing all of these on the first place.
I had never needs to modify multiple files with same inserts of text or words, because every file I have is unique, represents specific thought and meanings. Maybe someone will find it useful, but it is not for me.

I was about to install this software when I glanced at the user agreement. It says that the software will automatically connect to the internet with or without notice for the purposes of interaction with internet-based services that are required for the software's functionality. Why would software that replaces, inserts, deletes, copies, and moves text need to interface with internet-based services to function? It's not like the developer is offering any upgrades. And why would any internet traffic need to be without my knowledge or informed consent? I've decided not to install the software.

Professional Edition has the following restrictions:
Max File Size is 100MB;
Maximum number of files per batch is 1000;
Scheduling and command line operation is not supported;
Conditional processing is not supported.
So it would appear that this is a crippled version.
