A warning to all: An earlier version of AllMySongs Database offered in January 2010 overwrote crucial system files and severely damaged my Windows XP installation. Following installation, it demanded a reboot. Upon rebooting I got the blue screen of death with a fatal system error from the Windows Logon process. I had to take my operating system back to the version on my installation disk, and restoring all the Microsoft updates took another day. I reported this on GOTD without any response from FOTIS.
Even worse, the next time the program was offered in April 2010, Bob Levy reported a similar catastrophe on his Windows Vista machine, again without response from FOTIS.
I don't care whether FOTIS have fixed this program since. They've never acknowledged, explained or apologised for the damage previously reported by GOTD users, and I have no reason to trust their ability to deliver safe programs.

I'm struggling to find anything good to say about this program. It started going wrong during install, when it wanted to put itself in c:\Allmysongs, rather than the more normal (and logical) c:\program files\allmysongs. Once setup was finished I saw it had placed an unwanted shortcut on my desktop. Two thumbs down so far.
The search capabilities are weak, requiring the user to decide which field they're searching (title, artists, etc) instead of automatically checking all fields. What's more, the actual search doesn't begin until the user clicks the button. I find instant, on-the-fly, as-I-type searches much more useful.
There are other problems but I'm getting depressed thinking about them all. Let's just say I won't be keeping this giveaway. It's not worth what I paid for it.

Uninstalled after test.
Failed in one critical area.
Cannot support Unicode.
Like designing a car without brakes.
This is a NO-NO.
The freeware TagScanner (latest version 5-1-605 just out)and TagTuner (GiveawayOfTheDay on 25Nov2011) both can handle Unicode.

Installed on Vista without problem. I liked the arrangement of the window, but
* inability to re-size panes is poor.
* The icons along the top need tooltips or a text explanation.
* The program didn't seem able to "Save and close" - I get "error 3044" about a "non-valid path". (The data was saved though).
* There is no way to see if data is being saved into the file. If I add lyrics or a rating in AllMySongs, will that cross-over into (say) MediaMonkey? The answer is no (even after refreshing the database).
* Search is generally weak -
there is no ability to search additional databases (e.g. Amazon.co.uk versus Amazon.com.) and I searched for lyrics without success and yet found them in seconds via google. The program did find the album cover in seconds - far faster than MediaMonkey.
* The information is wierd - this is "a band" stills asks for D.O.B.
* The text in "Thisisa" needs reformatting - as does a lot more of the text in the "Edit" box.
* "Thisisa" only alows "Person" or "Band", what about a "Duo"?
* The "play panel" plays the playlist tracks, not the currently selected track. Once the track is in the playlist pane, the "play panel" works as expected.
* Data added to "Comments" in MediaMonkey gets put in "TagComment" in AllMySongs, so is unreadable. yet AllMySongs also has a "UserComments" that is empty.
Bottom line. I like the layout and the speed at which it finds stuff when it can find it. I don't like fixed panes, the serious lack of cross-over and the unfinished look. Would I pay €23 for this? No.

Also, I can't find a volume control for the built-in music player. My neighbor has just informed me this annoys him too.
